Following a sermon that sparked widespread discussion across Ghanaian media and social platforms, the Senior Pastor of Newspring Chapel Assemblies of God, Pastor Badu Kyenkyenhene, has spoken out and he wants the full story told.
Several news outlets published articles suggesting the pastor made controversial remarks about men and womanising, with headlines and captions that painted a picture many who know his ministry say did not reflect what was actually said. The story quickly spread across Facebook, WhatsApp, X and news websites, drawing strong reactions from the public. Now Pastor Badu Kyenkyenhene is addressing it directly.
“My Message Was About Grace”
In a personal statement, the pastor was clear about what the sermon was actually about.
“I have read and seen all the articles. I have seen all the headlines. And I want to address this directly because my congregation, my community, and anyone who knows my ministry deserves the full truth, not a fragment of it.
Our message for the month was on Grace. That was the foundation. That was the focus. That was the entire context of everything I said. My point was simple, it takes the Grace of God for any man, for any person, to experience genuine transformation in any area of life. Not willpower alone. Not social pressure. Not fear of consequences. Grace.
When I spoke about the various factors that influence human behaviour.. fear of God, responsibility, social standing, I was not excusing sin or normalising unfaithfulness. I was being honest about human nature the way the Bible has always been honest about it. Scripture does not dress up the struggles of men and women. It names them and then it points to the only lasting solution. ‘Grace.’
The same Grace that transformed Paul. The same Grace that restored Peter. The same Grace that meets every human being exactly where they are and does what discipline alone never could.”
“I Was Not Misunderstood — I Was Misrepresented”
Pastor Badu Kyenkyenhene did not hold back when addressing how the story was handled by the media.
“I have given my life to preaching that message. Anyone who has sat under my ministry at Newspring Chapel knows where I stand on the Word, on holiness, and on the transforming power of God’s Grace.
I was not misunderstood because the message was unclear. I was misrepresented because the full message was not told.”
The pastor also extended a direct invitation to those encountering his name for the first time through the controversy.
“To those who are hearing my name for the first time through headlines — I invite you to hear the full message for yourself. The Grace of God is still the most powerful force available to every human being. And that will always be my message.”
