In an honest interview with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM, the famed Ghanaian singer, known by his stage name Fameye, spoke openly about the emotional toll of heartbreak. Fameye shared his troubles, exposing a string of heartbreaks caused by his strong emotional engagement in relationships.
Fameye reflected on his personal path, describing how a breakup with an ex-girlfriend left him heartbroken. Recounting the painful experience, he recalled how he received the shocking news after returning from a show in Winneba, where he had just earned 3,000 Cedis. What was supposed to be a happy occasion went sour when the news destroyed his emotions, causing him to shave off his dreadlocks in a gesture of emotional distress.
Adding to his pain, Fameye described how he sought solace in extravagant spending, wasting his hard-earned money on a night of excess at a bar with friends. Despite his attempts to ease the pain with excess, the emptiness remained leaving him emotionally and financially exhausted.
Fameye sought safety in the company of a close friend and bared his soul to Winnifred, seeking momentary peace in her presence. However, the wounds of heart break stayed.
“It was a painful experience. I remember it was in Winneba, I had just come back from a show, that was before I even made it big, I was paid 3,000 cedis and I had gone to see her, that was when she broke up with me. I even gave her 50 Cedis out of the 3,000.
I cut off my rasta and then I just went to my room to sleep”
Reflecting on his experiences, Fameye cautioned the audience to tread carefully in issues of the heart. Recognizing the inherent risks of becoming completely involved in love relationships, he highlighted the significance of protecting one’s heart from future pain and disappointment.
“Broken heart is not easy, I’ve noticed that If you put all your heart into loving a woman, it’s very risky. So be careful in relationships.” He added.
