Stonebwoy – Wake Up

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall musician Stonebwoy is back with a new song titled “Wake Up,” a strong record that appears to address some of the recent conversations and tensions surrounding him within the Ghanaian music space.

On “Wake Up,” Stonebwoy speaks about people he believes are ganging up against him, while making it clear that he has remained focused on his career despite the pressure. Instead of allowing the noise around him to change his direction, the BHIM Nation leader uses the song to express his thoughts and remind his critics that he is paying attention to what is happening.

Some parts of the record may be interpreted by listeners as shots directed at Shatta Wale and Sarkodie, as well as sections of their fan bases. However, Stonebwoy does not need to name everyone directly for the lyrics to generate discussion. His choice of words has already given fans plenty to debate about who certain lines might be addressing.

The song comes with the confidence and firm delivery Stonebwoy has demonstrated throughout his career. He talks about staying committed to his work even when he feels others are working together against him. For Stonebwoy, maintaining focus and continuing to make progress appear to be more important than becoming distracted by industry rivalry.

“Wake Up” is also likely to attract different interpretations from fans of Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale and Sarkodie. While some listeners may consider it a diss song, others may see it simply as Stonebwoy responding to criticism and expressing his position through music.

Whatever the interpretation, Stonebwoy has once again delivered a record that is likely to generate conversation within the Ghanaian music industry.
