Michelle Majid-Michel, Dennis Enim (lead vocalist at the time), Obed Nzuh (also known as Obed Psych, presently the lead singer of the group), Edmund Baidoo, and Emmanuel Awuni were the original members of Preachers (also known as Emani Beats). They formed a gospel rap group called PREACHERS in 2009 after coming together as a group. Preachers gets its name from Mark 16:15 in the Bible, which states, “Go ye into the world, and proclaim the gospel to all creation.” In 2010, they released their first mixtape, “Very Special,” on which KODA, a record producer and multi-instrumentalist, produced practically all of the songs.

Michelle left the group not long after to concentrate on her studies. The surviving four members, Dennis, Obed Psych, Emani Beats, and Edmund, continued to collaborate and released their debut album “Mark 16:15” in 2012. Their breakout song Go Hard topped local charts, earning them the Discovery of the Year title at the 2012 Ghana Gospel Music Awards and the Most Wanted Rap Song at the 2013 Christian Community Music Awards. The music video for Go Hard was also published on Rapzilla, a leading Christian Hip Hop online publication.

In 2013, Dennis quietly departed the group, and Preachers created a music video for their song “E Dey Love Me,” which sparked controversy over everything from the video’s expense and premise to Dennis’ strange absence. Preachers have remained silent regarding his absence since then. Preachers, on the other hand, now refer to themselves as the interminable, implying that the band is no longer a trio.

The three, on the other hand, did not stop there. They proceeded to gain momentum, collecting numerous local and international accolades, including Afro Rap Artist(s) of the Year at the Africa Gospel Music Awards in the United Kingdom. They put together a formidable group called team bibles up, which consisted of “die-hard” Preachers fans, and performed on larger stages. Their Go Hard Tour became the Bibles Up Tour, which visited more schools and had a greater impact than ever before. They were always present at big youth gatherings after gaining the hearts of the youth.

Preachers started their Bibles Up Foundation in 2014, which coincided with the release of their second album, “The Fearless Project.” The Fearless Project, the Preachers’ biggest album to date, was premiered at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Accra in August 2014. The album’s title comes from 2 Timothy 1:7 in the Bible, which says, “For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Because it received numerous local and international awards and nominations, the record has been dubbed a multiple hit album. Their song No Juju was named “Most Wanted Rap Song of the Year” at the Christian Community Music Awards 2014, as well as “Most Popular Song” at the Jamming Jesus Festival and Honors 2015. The video for their song “Meyi W’aye,” which featured Noble Nketsiah, was also named “Best International Music Video” at the Gospel Music Awards Italy 2014, as well as “Video of the Year” at the Jamming Jesus Festival and Honors 2015.

As part of their Bibles Up International Tour, Preachers performed in front of a large crowd in Pretoria, South Africa at the Conquerors Through Christ Ministries auditorium in May 2016. The trio played at Kenya’s famed “Totally Sold Out Concert” at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi in December 2015, as well as organizing the “Ghana Meets Kenya Summit” at the Nairobi Cinema.
