Ghanaian gospel singer Obaapa Christy, born Christiana Twene and formerly known as Christiana Love, has returned with a new album titled Odeneho (The Sovereign One). Released on July 31, 2025, the album features twelve spirit-filled songs carefully arranged to inspire, uplift, and encourage. The full project runs for approximately one hour and includes powerful collaborations and heartfelt worship tracks.
The opening track, Gyae Su, features the ever-passionate Brother Sammy. The title translates to “Let Go” in Akan, and the song speaks to the struggles people carry silently, urging them to surrender to God’s authority. Even though earlier reports suggested it was the eighth track, official listings place it as the first on the album. Its position as the opener reflects the message of release and renewal that defines the entire album.

Leading up to the album release, Obaapa Christy made headlines with a bold move at a political event where she reclaimed the microphone from a speaker who tried to campaign during her gospel program. The act stirred public debate and reminded many of her strong stance on keeping ministry sacred. She later performed Gyae Su live at the album launch concert, delivering a heartfelt performance that moved many in attendance.
The album also features a unique blend of sounds, including a surprise collaboration with Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, showing her ability to stay relevant and creative after more than two decades in the industry. Odeneho celebrates God’s power and authority while reflecting Obaapa Christy’s spiritual growth and musical evolution.
Gyae Su and the rest of the songs on the album are now available on major streaming platforms. Take a listen and share your thoughts. Obaapa Christy continues to prove why she remains a pillar in Ghana’s gospel music scene.
