Released in August 2018, “Can’t Let You Go” brought together Sarkodie and King Promise on a love-themed record produced by Nigerian hitmaker BlaqJerzee. The song arrived shortly after Sarkodie’s marriage to Tracy, which gave its message of commitment extra attention among listeners at the time.
Rather than making the song a straight rap record, Sarkodie and King Promise share the space in a way that suits the subject. King Promise leads with the melody, while Sarkodie adds rap verses that follow the same relationship-focused direction. Their different styles help the record move easily between Afrobeats and hip-hop without either artiste taking too much from the other.

BlaqJerzee’s production gives the song its soft Afrobeats base. The beat stays clean and simple, allowing the vocals, hook and lyrics to remain the main focus.
