The song, which runs for 2:58, was officially released on 17th November 2025 and immediately stirred interest across the music scene. “Abonko” is inspired by Shatta Wale’s trusted personal assistant, popularly known as Abonko, who has been a long-standing member of his inner circle.

The release comes shortly after a widely discussed incident at the Tidal Rave 2025 festival, where Shatta Wale and MC Kojo Manuel were involved in a brief misunderstanding on stage. The situation escalated when Abonko, acting in his usual role of security and stage manager for Wale, pushed Kojo Manuel off the stage while trying to maintain order during Shatta Wale’s planned performance entry. The moment went viral and dominated social media conversations.

Following the event, Shatta Wale publicly apologized to Kojo Manuel, clarifying that the altercation was not intentional or fueled by malice. Wale described Abonko as someone he deeply trusts — a key reason the new song bears his name.
