Addi Self

Addi Self, born Jafaro Mohammed, is a Ghanaian reggae and dancehall musician from Mamobi in Accra. Known by many of his supporters as the “MoobiStar,” he represents his community through music inspired by life in the Zongo, personal struggles, faith, ambition and street experiences. He developed an interest in dancehall music at an early age and gradually built a following through energetic performances and relatable songs. Addi Self established Self Nation in 2014 before joining Shatta Wale’s Shatta Movement in 2017. He later became a member of the Militants alongside Captan, Joint 77 and Natty Lee. His involvement in songs such as “Taking Over” introduced him to a wider Ghanaian audience and strengthened his position in the dancehall scene. He eventually separated from the Shatta Movement camp and continued his career independently under Self Nation.
His catalogue includes songs such as “Today Too,” “Future Picture,” “Alhamdulilah,” “Gyal Dem Daddy” featuring Kelvyn Boy, “Mobile Money,” “Money Answer” and “DAADI (SWEET).” He has also released the albums The Journey (Zongo To BBC) in 2021, Slum To Hills in 2022 and ZONGORONTO in 2024. Through these projects, Addi Self has continued to share his journey from Mamobi while promoting determination, loyalty and hope among young listeners.
