Ghanaian-British Afrobeat sensation Fuse ODG has just unveiled “Somebody,” a powerful new collaboration featuring Ghana’s celebrated artist Kofi Kinaata. The song is part of Fuse’s latest studio album, Spirit of New Africa, which was officially released on June 20, 2025. The 12-track album, which runs for 35 minutes and 59 seconds, was released under Off Da Ground Records.
“Somebody” is track number 9 on the album and was produced by Killbeatz. The track lasts 3 minutes and 1 second and showcases an irresistible blend of Afrobeat and highlife influences. Fuse ODG’s soulful vocals are complemented by Kinaata’s signature Fante-infused lyrical delivery. Together, they create a dynamic sound that is both infectious and culturally rooted.
Fuse ODG (real name Nana Richard Abiona) continues to use his music as a platform to promote African identity and unity. His “Spirit of New Africa” campaign goes beyond just music—it’s a movement aimed at reshaping the world’s perception of Africa. In the lead-up to the album’s release, Fuse dropped a number of promotional singles, including “Sundiata” featuring Suli Breaks. He has actively promoted the project on his social media pages, especially X (formerly Twitter), where he shared the excitement with his fans globally.
Kofi Kinaata, born Martin King Arthur, is widely regarded as Ghana’s “Fante Rap God.” He is known for his deep lyrics, inspirational themes, and creative wordplay. In 2024, Kinaata released his debut EP titled Kofi OO Kofi, which featured tracks like “Effiakuma Broken Heart,” “Overthinking,” and “Auntie Ama.” Aside from music, Kinaata has taken on ambassadorial roles with organizations such as Enterprise Life and the International Organization for Migration. He was also recently honored by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his contributions to Ghanaian music and culture.
The album Spirit of New Africa is currently gaining traction across major streaming platforms in Ghana and beyond. Fuse ODG is expected to announce a series of live performances and music videos in support of the project. Kofi Kinaata, meanwhile, is likely to follow up his EP with more singles and possibly a full-length album.
