“Mommie” is one of the standout tracks from DopeNation’s newly released album titled Ghanapiano The Album. Officially released on July 10, 2025, the album features 17 solid tracks, with “Mommie” being the 9th song on the list. The track has a runtime of approximately 3 minutes and 4 seconds and showcases the unique musical blend the twin duo is known for.
DopeNation, made up of Ghanaian twin brothers Michael Boafo (B2) and Tony Boafo (Twist), continues to expand the boundaries of African music by fusing traditional Ghanaian rhythms with modern genres. With “Mommie,” they once again merge soulful melodies and piano-driven beats inspired by Amapiano, delivering an emotionally engaging yet danceable tune.[irp posts=”137079″ ]
What sets this track and the entire album apart is the fact that DopeNation produced, wrote, and arranged every single song themselves. This level of control and creativity demonstrates their growth not only as performers but as highly skilled producers. The duo’s commitment to self-producing has been evident since their early days in the music industry. They’ve worked on songs for some of Ghana’s biggest acts, including Shatta Wale, EL, Joey B, and the late Ebony Reigns.
In recent months, DopeNation has been active in promoting Ghanapiano, releasing singles and engaging fans both online and through media tours. Before “Mommie,” they released songs like “Clap” and “Fear Woman,” which received strong streaming numbers and fan engagement. The Ghanapiano project is also gaining attention for its innovative fusion of Ghanaian Afrobeat and South African Amapiano, a direction that reflects their desire to push the continent’s sound forward.[irp posts=”137063″ ]
Their past achievements include winning Group of the Year at the 2020 SoundCity MVP Awards and also bagging Afrobeat Song of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. With “Mommie” and the full Ghanapiano album, DopeNation reinforces their place as one of the most versatile and talented groups in African music today.
