Ghanaian singer and songwriter Cojo Rae has released a new song titled “Aberanteɛ,” taken from his Gen Z Highlife album. The recording arrives as part of his October 23, 2026 project, bringing another Ghanaian-language title into a collection that reflects his interest in contemporary highlife music.
“Aberanteɛ” is an Akan word commonly used to describe a young man or gentleman. Its inclusion in the album gives the recording a distinctly Ghanaian identity, drawing attention to the language and cultural expressions that have influenced Cojo Rae’s musical journey.
The Kumasi-based musician has increasingly associated his work with the idea of Gen Z Highlife, an approach that connects Ghana’s established musical traditions with the experiences and preferences of younger listeners.
Through this latest recording, Cojo Rae adds another title to an album built around that artistic identity.

Among his earlier recordings are “Don’t Need Your Love,” “I’m Not Safe” and “Aketesia,” which contributed to his recognition within Ghana’s emerging music community.
His career has also involved collaborations with other musicians, including Jay Bahd, Strongman, Quamina MP and Ypee.
In February 2026, he released “Yagye Nsam” featuring Jay Bahd and Strongman, connecting his singing background with two established Ghanaian rappers.
Cojo Rae has previously discussed the importance of maintaining his Ghanaian musical roots while developing his individual style. That outlook provides useful context for understanding the identity behind Gen Z Highlife.
The album’s title places highlife at the centre of his artistic direction, acknowledging a genre that has influenced Ghanaian popular music for generations.
“Aberanteɛ” contributes to the collection alongside songs such as “Dbee,” “Yeboo” and “I Can’t Explain (Adiza Maame).”
For listeners familiar with his previous projects, including FODE and Before the Album, the new recording provides another opportunity to follow his musical development.
The use of an Akan title also connects the song to everyday Ghanaian language, an important element of contemporary music produced for local audiences.
