Bright Mustapha, professionally known as Droplord SAS, is a Kumasi-based Ghanaian rapper whose story is built around instinctive lyricism, swift flows, distinctive delivery, fashion, and an enduring desire to become a force in Ghanaian hip hop.
Born on 19 December, Droplord hails from Agric Aburaso, in the Kwadaso suburb of Kumasi, and continues to be based in the Ashanti Regional capital. Although Kumasi remains home, his formative years were also shaped by regular visits to his grandmother in Bomaa in the Ahafo Region, where he spent much of his vacation growing up.

Long before recording music professionally, Droplord had already developed a natural relationship with rhythm and performance. He was known for taking his favourite songs and freestyling over them with remarkable precision, a habit that quickly made him popular among those around him.
What began as an instinctive love for music eventually became a serious pursuit after he met Kenneth Dwomoh Mensah, popularly known as Momskid, who introduced him to the recording studio of acclaimed music producer Masta Kiito. That meeting marked the beginning of Droplord’s recording career.
His first studio experience produced his debut recording, Expressions, before he later collaborated with Momskid on the mixtapes Hold On and No Pressure. By the time he entered senior high school, Droplord had already established a name for himself within his local circle.
His presence grew further during his SHS years when he released another mixtape, Doyin, a project that earned him admiration from his schoolmates while gradually extending his audience beyond his immediate surroundings.
Droplord’s artistic identity is rooted primarily in hip hop. His music is characterised by swift flows, sharp delivery, memorable hooks, and a confident sense of style. His approach to rap carries the swagger associated with hip hop culture while allowing his personality to remain at the centre of his music.
He has always treated fashion as an extension of his creativity, making his appearance, musical identity, and personal expression part of the same artistic world.
The name SAS carries a particularly personal meaning. It stands for “Soon A Star,” a name Droplord adopted after auditioning for the Born Star talent show while in senior high school, where he finished as a runner-up. The name eventually became part of his identity and, in many ways, a declaration of the ambition that has followed him throughout his career.
His other stage name, Droplord, has a less certain beginning. Droplord does not remember exactly how the name came about, but he has spent his career giving the name its meaning through his work. To him, being Droplord means consistently delivering hard bars, songs, and projects whenever he steps forward.
After completing Sunyani SHS, Droplord returned to Kumasi and began pushing his music beyond the local circuit. During this period, he worked at Adum Blue Light, a hub for fashion, merchandise, and music culture, where he traded in clothing, sneakers, fashion accessories, and related merchandise while continuing to develop his music career. It was during this period that he released his first mixtape, International Bread, a project he regards as his introduction to the mainstream media.
The reception to International Bread opened another chapter in his career. Droplord followed it with Sober, a project that developed into a street favourite in Kumasi and beyond. Its reception brought him opportunities to perform on major platforms and helped establish him as an artist capable of moving from a local following into a wider audience.
His journey has also been shaped by a circle of people who have contributed to different stages of his development. His cousin Prempeh Sarkecc played an important role in connecting him with Momskid at the beginning of his recording journey. Christiana Kuruwaa, popularly known as Purple Christie, represented him in several professional dealings, while Kobby Popkid of Hitz360.com handled his social presence during his reality-show period.
Momskid has remained one of his closest mentors and collaborators, helping him develop his musical identity and providing guidance throughout different stages of his career.
Beyond the professional relationships, Droplord’s journey has also been supported by family and people who have played important parental roles in his life. He was born to Eunice Opoku and Mr. Opoku Adams and has also received considerable motherly care from Madam Bernice Asare, popularly known as Mama Hagar, whose affection and support have remained significant to him.
Over the years, Droplord has built a growing catalogue through his own releases, collaborations, features, and collective projects. One of the memorable moments in his catalogue came when Ypee, an artist he greatly admires, featured him alongside his musical associate Lami Jnr on the song Low. The collaboration represented an important moment for an artist who had long looked up to Ypee’s work.
Droplord’s first major body of work is his six-track EP, INSPIRED BY 3KCM. The project represents more than another addition to his catalogue. It is his musical account of the influences, experiences, relationships, and ambitions that have helped carry him to this point. The title reflects the source of the inspiration behind his journey and the creative environment that continues to push him forward.
INSPIRED BY 3KCM features a range of artists including Ypee, $PACELY, Holyrina, Lami Jnr, Youth God, and BHADMAYORS, among others. Across its six tracks, the EP presents Droplord’s versatility as a rapper while giving listeners a clearer picture of the artist behind the name.
For Droplord SAS, “Soon A Star” is both a name and an ambition. His goal is to reach the highest level of his craft while creating a path that allows younger people to dream beyond the limits placed before them.
