Victony, known for his global crossover hit “Soweto” featuring Don Toliver and Rema, has released his debut album, “Stubborn.” This album signifies a significant evolution in Victony’s musical journey, as he collaborates with several renowned artists to create a project that captures his remarkable rise in the industry.
“Stubborn,” released on June 21, 2024, features contributions from Afrobeats superstar Asake, hitmaker Shallipopi, American rapper Teezo Touchdown, Guyanese-American star Saint Jhn, and more. The album transcends genres, showcasing the diverse nature of African music on a global stage.
This release is particularly poignant for Victony, marking the third anniversary of a near-fatal accident that claimed the life of his best friend and required him to undergo extensive surgery and rehabilitation to relearn how to walk. Regarding the album, Victony stated, “The meaning of ‘Stubborn’ goes beyond what the title implies. This album truly represents my story and everything I’ve had to overcome over the past few years. It’s not just about reflecting on the trials and tribulations we inevitably face, but also about relishing the abundance that life has to offer and staying true to who you are despite what anyone says. I’m excited for my fans to hear what I’ve been working on for years, as well as the masterful productions and artist features that went into making this album.”
The highly anticipated project follows the release of the hit single “Stubborn” featuring Asake. The album showcases Victony’s resilience and creativity, solidifying his position as a leading force in the global exportation of Afrobeats.
